Are You Credit Wise? Internship Program

This internship is a great opportunity to gain REAL public relations experience with a top firm, Powell Tate | Weber Shandwick, and with MasterCard Worldwide.

Weber Shandwick oversees MasterCard's financial literacy internship program for college students, called Are You Credit Wise? A select twelve interns nationwide are chosen to bring a financial literacy campaign to their campus. This paid internship is run on your own time, and selected candidates will be flown to D.C. in July for an all-expenses-paid, two-day training workshop at Powell Tate Weber Shandwck's Washington office.

The internship runs throughout fall semester, 2010. With the MasterCard Are You Credit Wise? internship program you will:

• Score experience at a top firm

• Score $1,000

• Score impressive collateral for your portfolio

MasterCard and Powell Tate Weber Shandwick select and train student interns to participate in the Are You Credit Wise? program. Interns are selected from a pool of applicants who demonstrate a proven ability to communicate with student groups, administrators and student media, as well has have strong writing and presentation skills.

Interns are prepared for the internship by participating in a two-day training workshop in Washington, D.C. and also receive regular support throughout the internship.

Requirements: -Interest in running a comprehensive PR campaign, including media relations, third party outreach, events coordination and online media

-Ability to be take initiative and be proactive

-We're looking for outgoing individuals who are responsible, willing to learn, and ready get their feet wet in PR by running their own campaign

- Must be a student during fall semester, 2010

Salary: $1,000.00 for the Fall semester, plus a $250 operating budget ofr your campaign.

The American Red Cross Big Rivers Chapter is actively recruiting an intern for a great experience learning the inner workings of a not-for-profit organization. We can provide exposure to fund raising including planning special events, annual fund development, grant acquisition and management, volunteer recruitment and management, volunteer board development and relationship management, and donor relationship management. We can work with any schedule and be very flexible. Estimated schedule is 15-20 hours per week.

Represent the American Red Cross at local health fairs. Contact new and existing customers via phone and update customer database. Answer phones as needed.

Candidates will:

Have a valid driver license.
Be team oriented and dependable.
Lift/move up to 25 lbs.
Effectively communicate in person and via phone.
Have basic knowledge of computers, and MS Windows software.

Deadline/Special Note: Interns will be trained by the Red Cross in assigned duties.
The internship position is a volunteer position but will provide free CPR/AED and First Aid certification for the intern. Flexible hours, approx. 20 per week.
