On Monday June 29th all Owensboro interns were invited by the GO-iNTERN program to a networking lunch with Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne and Judge-Executive Reid Haire. Interns had the opportunity to hear from the Mayor and the Judge about the plans for downtown and were invited to give their feedback. They discussed issues in the community and what could be done to make Owensboro a more attractive place to move to after college. After lunch, the interns were treated to a tour of downtown by Downtown Director Fred Reeves. On the tour Mr. Reeves showed them possible sites of new restaurants, shops, and a market square. Also, the current sites planned for the hotel and convention center.  They had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the history of our downtown and how it would be preserved in the redevelopment.
